That's a very ignorant statement in my oppinion. Why bother putting in weapon crafters who make weapons that consume 5K AND materials for a very minimallistic weapon? I definitely would like to see the price reduced to 1K, simply because you're buying a very low grade weapon.

You're buying a req. 9, 15^50 moddable weapon.

That is not low grade, that is perfect weapon.

You may not like the skin, but hey, vanity is a sin.

A 15^50 costs what, 2, 3k? And then you still need a req. 9 weapon. They drop as loot, obviously, but go out, and loot the one you need.

Let's say you need a req. 9 scythe. Go and loot it, and time it how long it takes. 2 minutes? 5? 50?

Not to mention, that only elonian weapons can be inscribed. In previous chapters, you don't have the option. How long would it take you there to loot a req. 9, 15^50 weapon?

All this doesn't even apply to rare skins.

But before screaming about the price, ask yourself this. Why did you go to weapons trader in the first place (why not just buy from player) and how much is your time in GW worth?

My time, based on farming/trading/loot income is 10-15k an hour, excluding rare and lucky drops. So I simply cannot be bothered to spend more than 15-30 minutes finding a weapon I need. It simply isn't saving me money, it's losing me money. And certainly, I cannot spend at least an hour gathering collector's items to get same item for "free".

As they say, time is money. And weaponsmiths save time.

The question about skins is void;

People also have to consider that when Prophercies, factions and NF were all released, the skins which the merchant weapons use were all "new".

It was only players who decided those skins were rubbish. It was the players who decided that a certain skin was cheaper then another and which one was more desirable over time.

Anet had no way of knowing any of that. They couldnt predict which skins people would like more then others. But they also couldnt give away merchant weapons which used rare skins. As that would defy the point of a rare drop.

And you cant expect the weaponsmith to adjust his prices according to a fluctuating price on skins. Something which the game has no idea about.

Not to mention that skins can go in and out of fashion. One minute their desirable, the next their not because somethig better is released. Your really expensive skin can go from being a 10k weapon, to being a 500g weapon within the span of a month.

Your paying the 5k for a low-requirement, clean, max damage weapon which you can mod. Which will probably tripple in price once you have mod'd it.

If you want a cheaper, more unique skin, with mods already on it then use collectors.

I stated in my weapon crafter idea that weaponsmiths should sell regional weapons.

There would be a few req.9 crafters that sell BASIC skinned weapons. These are the skins you see in keining city and the collecter weapons you find scattered across prophecies.

The price is perfectly fine. But I think that regional weaponsmiths should be selling weapons native to their area. For example, a kurzick smith would sell gothic arms. However, any regional skins will be sold at req. 12 rather than 9. The only req.9 items you could craft would only have the core skins available from keining center and proph., etc.

I also think that the NPCs should carry regional weapons as well, as in Luxons carry Jade arms.

Crafting regional weapons should also be a gold sink. For example I could go to cavalon and forge a req. 12 jade sword for 10 jadeite and maybe like 10k. Of course because of the weapon's high req. The skin would only be made more available without impacting the value of the original req. 9 golds, which would still sell for 100k+ because of quality.

Price is my last complaint when it comes to crafters. Regional selection and seeing NPCs walk around with the same crappy arms is what I have a problem with. Unique regions should offer crafters with unique skins and lower quality than perfects. They should also be using the weapons themselves.

I just get irked seeing Luxon and Kurzick NPCs with collector skinned weapons that don't fit their appearance.
